The individuals behind Greenshift Europe have been instrumental in formulating the policies, activities and mindset necessary to make coordinated growth of European "smart" communities a reality. We are engaged in ICT for Sustainability projects of various scales across Europe, including:

As part of Greenshift Europe, Clicks & Links and EUROCITIES - through The City of Manchester and other municipalities in the EUROCITIES network -  developed a vision for greening European cities by using ICT, which is now embodied in The EUROCITIES Green Digital Charter.  It sets concrete targets for ICT projects which aim to reduce a community's environmental impact, and works in synergy with the EUROCITIES Declaration on Climate Change, the Covenant of Mayors, and the dialogue on ICT4EE between EUROCITIES and the European Commission DG Information Society.
logo_cost  The COST Foresight 2030 Project aims to underscore how ICTs can contribute to the society of the future in the areas of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Food Security, Life Enhancement and Natural Resources Management. Greenshift Europe contributed to this effort as European experts in ICT and Energy Efficiency.
button_as_dehems The DEHEMS (Digital Environment Home Energy Management System) project led by the City of Manchester aimed at developing next generation smart metering for households, and exploring how technology can improve domestic energy efficiency, and introduced a revolutionary new online energy dashboard which provides a range of energy use information via PC and mobile telephone.

The EU Thematic Network in "ICT for Energy Efficiency" contributes to the European i2010 Strategy for Sustainable Growth by federating a range of Europe-wide stakeholders, and developing a common understanding of good practices in the field of ICT applied to energy efficiency in cities and improved energy consumption behaviour by citizens.
DC10 logo       The UK Digital Challenge creates a platform for enabling local authorities, public sector, private and third sector actors to collaborate and share best practices on radical steps to create digitally-enabled societies.
